Unemployment can go up while financial markets still do well due to 3 reasons:
AI - is increasing margins and spending
ie Duo Lingo can release 100 new courses without any additional employees
Then companies will cut employees and then they get disrupted - AI is a 3 step disruption wave
Currency - weaker dollar with companies that then naturally increase earnings due to global revenue and this makes US products cheaper in other countries - not good for other countries economies but it works for US
Dominance in wealthy spending - Wealthy people especially boomers are spending more as they are moving into the spending part of their life rather than just saving ie Amex announces record spending
When there is issues is at the end of these trends
BUT These things are in aggregate years away and in that time socialist policies will also increase spending and printing money to balance out any negative issues from a nominal standpoint
If you manage your own money all you need to do is hold assets and not get cute trying to time in and out - as we saw with stocks and bitcoin etc when people get offside and markets move they move so quick that you will get smoked
